It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship should hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
